Tricia Ashley – Tricia’s love for yoga was ignited in her very first class in the Spring of 2003. The class happened to be a 90 minute HOT Bikram Yoga class and the impact it had was like waking up from a long sleep, everything felt lighter, brighter and more vivid than ever before. Tricia began practicing daily, finding that the benefits of the practice were dramatically improving other areas of her life. After battling and surviving a rare form of cancer in her early 20s, finding yoga a decade later was the first time she felt strong, safe and free in her body once again. In Spring 2005, Tricia decided to make a big life change and attend Bikram’s 500+ hour intensive teacher training in Los Angeles. The training was rigorous and provided an opportunity for personal growth and introspection, in addition to the tools to lead yoga classes. Inspired to share her love and passion for yoga with others, she left her 10+ year career with Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department to share what she had learned with others. Tricia taught as a certified Bikram Yoga method teacher for over 4 years in South Pasadena, CA and Bend, OR. Tricia decided to merge her years of business and management experience with her love of yoga and opened a studio in Redmond, OR. It wasn’t long before life circumstances changed and she decided to move back to Southern California. She began teaching Hot Yoga in San Clemente and, in February 2011, completed another 200 hour teacher training and registered through Yoga Alliance as E-RYT. Tricia co-led a Hot Yoga Teacher Training in 2012. Tricia is passionate about teaching various styles including: Hot Yoga, Power Vinyasa Flow yoga, and Yin Yoga and sharing her love for the practice with her students in an encouraging, challenging and compassionate way.
Michelly Young – Michelly was born in Brazil, and she lived there in 2007 until she made the move from Brazil to United States. Michelly came in the U.S. looking for an abroad experience while learning the English language. Michelly has been dancing her entire life, even before she was able to walk, so it came natural when she was motivated by a friend to become a Zumba Instructor. Becoming a dance and fitness instrutor had always been a lifelong goal of Michelly’s and in 2009 she took her first step in achieving that goal by becoming a Zumba Instructor. At that time she did not realize that she had only begun to start her fitness and teaching. In 2010 Michelly was accepted into the MBA program, at the same time she began teaching Zumba while managing a yoga studio. She began practicing yoga and found that it kept her focused and enthusiastic in school, as well as providing her with the subject for her final dissertation: opening her own yoga studio. She decided to take the next step in her journey by completing her first yoga instructor training in 2011; and around the same time she completed her MBA she was also completing her Hot Yoga teacher training as well. In 2012 she completed a group exercise fitness certification through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). Michelly has fundamental ideals that she applies to her practice: she believes that a workout should be FUN. The reason she loves teaching yoga and zumba is she enjoys helping students discover the best in themselves and achieving more than they ever thought possible!
